Agenda, Focus, and Near-Term Objectives

As we start, our focus is on informing and educating everyone involved in the reorganization of home inspection licensing, law, regulations, and ethics since that was initiated by Gov. Bevin’s Executive Order 2016-859 (Dec.1, 2017). You can read the Executive Order at http://ppc.ky.gov/Documents/EO2016859.pdf. We also may keep an eye on any changes involving radon testing and certification, since we will be there anyway and no group does more to protect Kentuckians from radon than home inspectors. We certainly look forward to other suggestions you may have.

To help, we have engaged Marie Cull, an attorney and registered lobyist in Frankfort, to be our eyes and ears, and represent us, in Frankfort. None of us can be on the scene often enough to be sufficiently effective in the next two months as legislation percolates and the Public Protection Cabinet, new Department of Professional Licensing, and the new Kentucky Real Estate Authority all get up and running.

She not only is there every day, working for clients like Humana, but she has been there for roundly 30 years. We never could replace those relationships starting from scratch today. Even though there are a fair number of new state representatives this time around, they are in town around 90 days. The rest of state government runs with career staff, many of whom also have been moving up their ladders for decades too.

Marie has given us a budget that should be covered by out Initial Contributions for this session.

Working as a team, we expect this will be the most efficient and successful path to making the most of this situation.

This may be the best opportunity we have had to fix the mess in the last decade!
